Heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures across Europe, which began on February 3rd, have resulted in flight cancellations, airport and road closures, and power outages.
The most severe weather conditions have been reported in the following areas:Eastern Europe: Bulgaria, the Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Romania, Serbia and PolandWestern Europe: England, France, Italy and The Netherlands.
BULGARIA & GREECE Severe flooding has been reported in Bulgaria and Greece. Some heavy snowfall has also been reported in the Northern region of Greece resulting in some road closures and power outages.
BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA Due to heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures, there will be some delays to mail deliveries in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
AUSTRALIA Due to a cage shortage at Sydney Office of Exchange (Australia Post), there is a delay in mail processing. The containers are used by the ground handlers to organize the traffic for collection and transportation to the Office of Exchange. As a result, Australia Post are 2 days behind in processing and believe their shortages will continue to at least the end of this week.
ISRAEL A general strike by public sector workers, which began at 6.00 local time today, Wednesday, February 8th, has resulted in the suspension of delivery of letter mail and parcels.
ITALY Due to heavy snowfall on February 3rd, particularly in the Northern region, mail being delivered into Italy and nearby countries may be delayed.
HUNGARY Hungarian airline Malev suspended all operations on February, 3rd. Mail to and from Hungary may be affected.
